Gmail interface is much more elegant and user friendly whereas Yahoo is sluggish and often unresponsive. I used to use Yahoo until 3 years ago when I completely switched over to Gmail.

Windows 8 has been a failure looking at the current scenario. The best you could get out of Windows 8 would be by installing it in a touch capable machine. That's the best use case for it. If not, I'd suggest sticking to Windows 7 until Microsoft takes care of the issues.
If you want to keep your confidential data safe, encrypt your disk using software like TrueCrypt. For erasing or completely removing any traces of those files from your disk, use Eraser.
It is possible to buy them but risky none the less. Facebook has strong algorithms in place to detect fake likes and you might get your account suspended. I'd suggest plugging in the like button on your blogs and websites.
A GUI similar to the modern day websites like dropbox.com. Can this be achieved using the above mentioned technologies? Or is jQuery and XML necessary too?
