Virtually try on clothes

Hi! I recently came across FitRoom, a system that uses artificial intelligence to virtually try on clothes. At first I was curious about how it works, but then I had doubts. How accurately can AI select clothes, taking into account body features, height, and body type? I was looking for jeans not long ago, and the website said that they would suit me, but in reality it turned out to be completely different. Can a technology like FitRoom correct such errors? Can it really make online shopping more convenient and accurate?

In fact, FitRoom and other similar solutions could really revolutionize the online shopping experience, although it’s certainly not a panacea for now. The basic idea behind systems like FitRoom is that AI analyzes your body parameters using 3D models and computer vision to simulate how certain clothes will fit you. It’s not just superimposing an image of clothes on your photo — the system actually “predicts” how fabric will behave on your body. It’s important to understand that this approach is based on a lot of data. For example, AI collects information about your height, weight, body type, and also takes into account how different fabrics can behave when moving, sitting, or even when changing body position. This greatly expands the selection possibilities. But, like any system, it can make mistakes, especially if the user has non-standard proportions or the clothes have an unusual shape. In such cases, the system may not always accurately reflect how it will look in practice, although algorithms are becoming more accurate every year. I use FitRoom on some sites, and in most cases the result is quite accurate. Of course, there are nuances that are worth considering - for example, if the clothing model has a tight silhouette or unusual materials, such as leather or glitter items, then the result may not be so accurate. However, for standard models, such as T-shirts, jeans, jackets, such a system can save a lot of time and effort when choosing sizes.

Interesting topic! Although I haven't tried FitRoom yet, such systems using AI seem really useful for online shopping. Especially considering how often you have to deal with returns because the item simply didn't fit in size or style. I used to buy a lot of clothes online, and I couldn't always guess the size. There are cases when it seems like the jeans will fit, but in fact they are either too tight or too loose. It's really annoying.
