There are many differences between Yahoo and Google Search engine but i want to know if you guys are aware of any major difference in Algorithms of both Yahoo and Google. What are the website things Google gives more important too and what stuff Yahoo Algorithm gives importance too.

Once we know the answer of this question we can try to improve SEO of our website and improve rankings.

If we knew even a tiny bit about how these algorithms work, we would all be getting our content ranked higher than others, and that's why they won'y let us know the secretes. We are never going to know about the differences and how they work.

The difference between the two are great. Yahoo has a more outdated algorithm and doesn't update it as frequently. Google on the other hand, their algorithm is very efficient and effective. They most likely update it everyday, mostly small updates, and sometimes make big changes like Google Panda, or Penguin. They care about what shows up on their search results while Yahoo doesn't care as much. There are typically more spam websites on Yahoo when you search for something compared to Google.

However, there is no information on what Yahoo's algorithm is, or what Google's algorithm is. Of course, you need to know the obvious, and know that they both like good content, and good looking websites. If you use anything to abuse the system, Google will most likely penalize you. Yahoo might take a bit slower to find out, but eventually, you'll get caught if you use blackhat techniques.

If you want to know what their algorithms are then this stuff is not known to their own emplyees; everyone in company knows what they need to know. So telling everything to public will not be a chance. However if you are talking about algorithm updates such as panda and penguin for google; you can search it on google news, yahoo news and bing news for any new major algorithm changing coming

I know that Yahoo's ranking algorithms used to me more susceptible to being fooled by black hat cloaking scripts back in the day. I would imagine they've gotten a little better at this though. I had some sites that were ranking #1 on some very competitive terms on Yahoo that I was running cloaking scripts on. I don't do that these days though because I don't want to risk the penalty from Google. Also, the company that created the cloaking script stopped updating their IP address lists to watch out for search engine bots.

When compared to smaller search engines we can drag more number of differences between higher search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Why because you will be submitting your website only to major search engine directories such as google ,yahoo and msn. You are not going to bother whether your site is indexed in smaller search engines. So you will be well known about google, yahoo and msn.Google always remains in top position when compared to all other major search engines.
