Getting overwhelmed trying to handle probate alone

Really hoping someone here has been through this and can offer some advice. My uncle passed recently, and I’ve been named as the executor. I didn’t realize how much work it actually involves—now there’s paperwork, deadlines, and family tension piling up fast. It’s honestly starting to feel like a full-time job. Do I need a probate lawyer for this, or can I handle it with just some research and time?

Been through this myself when my dad passed away, and yeah—it’s way more complicated than it looks at first. You’ve got to deal with inventorying assets, notifying beneficiaries, resolving debts, and following court procedures that vary by state. I started alone but quickly realized it wasn’t sustainable. If you're in Arizona, you might want to check out this Probate attorney in Scottsdale—they made a world of difference for me. Things got done quicker and with way less stress.

Thanks for the reply—definitely feels like I’m already out of my depth and I’ve only just begun. One of the banks is asking for letters of administration, and I had no clue what that even meant. Did the attorney you worked with help you through those types of steps too, or is that something I’d still have to handle on my own?

They actually helped with everything, including getting the letters from the court. A solid probate attorney doesn’t just offer legal advice—they manage communication with financial institutions, handle filings, and even mediate if there are family disputes.
