Tips To Crack CEED Exam In 6 Months

CEED is an entrance test for post graduate studies,which tests a student on their creative,observational,logical and drawing skills. Since cracking creative exams is tricky,here are some tips that would help a student score well.



The paper is marked out of 100. It has two parts:-

Part A - Multiple choice questions is for 50 marks. It will test you on Visualisation and spatial ability, Environmental and social awareness,Analytical and logical reasoning,Language and creativity,Design thinking and problem solving and Observation and design sensitivity.

Part B - Divided into two parts again. It will test you on drawing,creativity,analytical and problem solving skills and communication. Both parts is totally marked out of 50. They are the most time consuming parts of the CEED entrance exam.



Going through previous years’ CEED papers.It will help you understand the various levels of questions as well as the types of questions asked.
Go through the CEED brochure to know the whole process so that you can prepare well.
Practice free hand drawing. Part B of the question paper requires basic perspective drawings and figure sketches. It is also important to inculcate creative thinking for this part.
Read comic strips.They help students learn to build a storyboard.Some questions are asked to be represented as a storyline. Comic strips by Peter Dawes, reading Manga(Japanese comic strips) and readwritethink website are helpful.
Be creative while answering questions. It's necessary that your points are accurate and clear.Think of different ways to present your answers.
Books provided by DQ Labs will help you to learn concepts well. They cover these subjects - Manikin I & II, Instructional Design,Video game exercise,sketching at all levels,perspective drawing, 2D & 3D composition and principles,Cross section and exploded views, Comic study, Product design I & II, free hand drawing,Graphic design I, which you will find on the DQ Labs website.
Practice with the right stationery. Use 2 grades of pencils. H-grade for rough work and light drawings and B-grade for shading. It will be great if you pack in a non dust eraser too.
Attempt CEED mock papers to practice. Websites like DQ Edge provides mock question papers which helps students to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
Solving puzzles will improve observational skills. Check Tangram, non-verbal and pictorial exercises to practice.
