Adjusting to lenses that support intermediate vision

I recently switched to progressive lenses and I’m having trouble adjusting, especially with the middle range. I know it’s supposed to help with intermediate vision, but I’m not seeing a clear improvement. Is this normal during adaptation, or should I go back to my optometrist?

Some of my friends needed a couple of weeks to fully adapt. It’s probably worth giving it a little time before changing anything.

Adjustment can definitely take time, especially if it’s your first pair of progressives. The intermediate range is typically placed in the middle part of the lens, so it requires slight head movement to use it effectively https://myvisioncare.org/blog/near-intermediate-and-distance-vision-how-to-understand-it intermediate and distance vision This article explains the adaptation process really well, and why that middle zone can be tricky at first. You might find that posture and screen setup also play a role. I had similar issues during my first two weeks—it felt unnatural to move my head just to look at the screen. But with time, it started to feel automatic. If after a few weeks things still don’t feel right, a quick visit back to your optometrist could help adjust the alignment or fit of the frames.
