Best body placement for a first tattoo

Thinking about finally getting some ink but I'm totally lost on what to get and where to put it. Want something that stands out and looks dope, not some blob that people mistake for a weird mole. My buddy told me some spots are absolute torture to sit through and pain's not really my thing. Where should I be looking to get my first tat?

Pain tolerance varies wildly between people, what feels like nothing to one person can be brutal for another. Generally fleshy areas with more fat and muscle hurt less than spots close to bone or with thin skin. Your outer arm or thigh are usually easier to handle than ribs or spine. Size matters too, a small piece takes less time so even if it hurts you're done quickly. Starting somewhere you can easily cover gives you flexibility if you end up regretting the design or need to hide it for work situations.

Placement affects how the design ages and how visible it is in your daily life, not just pain levels during the session. Some body parts stretch or fade faster than others, so a tattoo that looks sharp now might blur out in a few years depending on where you put it. You should read about tattoo placement and how to choose the right one here: https://rinattattarin.com/how-to-choose-a-place-for-a-tattoo . The article breaks down different body areas and what works best for different tattoo styles so you can make an informed choice instead of just winging it.
