How do indie musicians even get noticed these days?

I’ve been producing music from my home studio for over two years now. I upload my tracks to Spotify, share clips on TikTok, post on Reddit — but still, getting traction feels almost impossible. It's like shouting into the void. I know my music isn’t bad, I’ve gotten some good feedback, but finding listeners beyond family and friends has been the hardest part. Are there any modern tools or platforms that actually help indie artists get seen without needing a label or PR team behind them? What’s worked for you?

Yeah, been there. I’m a self-taught producer too and totally felt that frustration. For me, joining niche Discord servers and collaborating with small vloggers helped. Also submitting to indie playlists manually. It’s a slow grind, but every small win adds up. Sometimes just networking with 5 new people a week makes a difference long-term.

I get what you’re saying — I had the same problem with my lo-fi tracks. What really helped was finding a space where musicians actually get featured and connected with active listeners. I started submitting my work to the tinytunes blog and got way more exposure than I ever did on my own. They spotlight indie artists and have a solid community around them.
