Eligibility and Basic Requirements
- Medical degree recognition: Hospitals first check if your medical degree is recognized by German authorities. This often involves equivalence checks and sometimes additional exams.
- Language proficiency: Fluency in German is non-negotiable. Most hospitals require at least B2 or C1 level certification. Communication with patients and colleagues is central to the role.
- Licensing process: Applicants must apply for Approbation (full license) or Berufserlaubnis (temporary license). Hospitals prefer candidates with Approbation as it allows unrestricted practice.
