How long does it take to build a cryptocurrency Wallet platform?

Hey folks,

I’ve been looking into crypto wallet development and wanted to know more about the time it takes to build one. The timeline really depends on the complexity and features.

• A basic wallet (send/receive/store crypto with standard security) → around 2–3 months, including planning, UI/UX design, and integrating core security protocols.
  
  
• An advanced wallet (multi-currency support, biometric login, blockchain integrations, etc.) → can take 6+ months, especially with compliance checks, deep testing, and security improvements.
  

There’s also the factor of regular maintenance and updates, since performance and safety need to be continuously ensured.

For those who have worked on or used custom wallet projects — how accurate is this timeline? Do you think startups should start simple and scale later, or go for a feature-packed wallet from day one?
