Dealing with OST file corruption becomes critical when the priority is to fix corrupt OST file without losing data stored in Outlook 365, particularly when the mailbox contains important emails, contacts, and calendar entries that cannot be recovered from the server. The manual approach using the Inbox Repair Tool works for minor corruption by scanning the OST file through ScanOST.exe and attempting repairs, but it carries a significant risk of losing unsynchronized data and is only suitable for smaller or lightly damaged files. Recreating the OST file by deleting the existing one and restarting Outlook is another free option, but this permanently removes any locally stored data that was not synced with the Exchange server before the corruption occurred. The SysInfo OST Recovery Tool offers a more controlled approach—it provides three recovery modes, Standard, Advanced, and Deep, allowing the severity of the corruption to determine which level of scanning is applied before any data is touched. The preview functionality lets mailbox folders be inspected in a tree structure before saving, ensuring only the required data is recovered and exported. The tool saves recovered data in multiple file formats without size restrictions and operates without requiring MS Outlook installation on the system.
