Hey all,

I’ve been on the hunt for good Indian food in Amsterdam lately. Having lived here for a while, I’ve sampled quite a few Indian places around the city, but it’s still been a challenge to find one that really hits the mark in terms of authentic flavor, quality, and a welcoming atmosphere.

One place that recently came up in conversation is Samrat Indian Restaurant. I hadn’t heard much about it before, but it seems to have a decent reputation, and I’m intrigued. I’m wondering if anyone here has tried their food? How would you describe the experience?

Specifically, I’m curious about a few things:

  • 1. Do they offer a wide range of traditional Indian dishes, or is it mostly the standard curry options?
  • 2. How authentic are the flavors compared to what you’d find in India?
  • 3. What’s the vibe of the restaurant? Is it cozy and relaxed, or more of a fast-paced spot?
  • 4. Is it suitable for groups or families? I’m thinking of planning a dinner with some friends, so seating and service are important.
  • 5. And of course, how reasonable are the prices and portion sizes?

If anyone has tried Samrat recently, I’d appreciate hearing your honest thoughts. I’m seriously considering giving them a call to find out more about their menu and maybe book a table. From what I found, their phone number is (+31) 020-624-6033 — so I’ll probably ring them up soon.

Also, if you have other suggestions for places around Amsterdam where I can find genuinely good Indian food, please share! I’m open to all recommendations, whether they’re hidden gems or well-known favorites.
