Hi Forum members,

Google Master Matt Cutts says, Dont use Nofollow backlinks. but some experts says, Nofollow backlinks can increase site traffic.

What concept should i follow?

Can anyone clear my doubt.

In my opinion, building no-follow links is a part of SEO. Although it only gives website traffic but these links are beneficial. Building only do-follow links for your website leads to spamming so it is important that you have to no-follow links also in order to avoid spamming. Must have a balance between do-follow links and no-follow links.

Where did he say that? I would like to know. I have been following him for years and can confirm that he never said it. You are asking questions just for the sake of it. Where is the video or the statement? I' like to see it.

See its true that no follow links are the only way to increase back links because do-follow links are rarely found but I its true nofollow has lower value even then I consider them.

Once upon a time, people would spam blogs and forums buy posting annoying links to websites so they could increase their search engine rank. SEO can make or break a website or online business. To prevent this kind of spam, someone from Google proposed a "no follow" value which could be added to the rel (link relation) attribute of HTML links. The rel attribute is used by automated systems like search engine crawlers. Now, when a hyperlink has the "no follow" value set to its rel attribute, a search engine crawler knows not to let this link to website x affect the page rank of x. So spammers now don't get an unfair advantage in a search engine results page.

No follow links don't add any value to your website. It doesn't effect your traffic stats and ignores the backlinks pointing to your site. However, you shouldn't completely avoid it. Google knows that sites that are using blackhat methods will have no nofollow links. If a site has no nofollow links, they will get penalized. That's why you need a specific percentage of nofollow links, I heard around 16-24% is the average, and anything mroe than that is fine. Anything below 16% triggers Google's red flags, so you should be careful for that.

No follow is a link attribute that instructs spiders not to crawl the particular backlink on the webpage. Hence these links are never indexed in search engines. They are only used to build traffic from various external webpages.
