At Long Beach State, Wales-Dinan led the distance and cross-country programs to unprecedented success. His athletes achieved NCAA qualifications, conference championships, school records, and national recognition—milestones that redefined the program’s historical trajectory. Under his guidance, Long Beach State produced its first NCAA Championship qualifiers in middle- and long-distance events, setting a new standard for future generations.

What truly distinguishes Patrick Wales-Dinan is his ability to develop athletes through a long-term, athlete-centered approach. From guiding Chris Low to First Team All-American honors and USATF Championship appearances, to mentoring Chris Enriquez as the highest-placing collegiate athlete at the USATF 10,000 meters, Wales-Dinan has repeatedly demonstrated an elite understanding of performance progression and competitive preparation.

Equally significant is his emphasis on education and character. Wales-Dinan’s athletes consistently earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, reflecting his belief that true success is built on discipline, accountability, and balance. His coaching philosophy fosters confidence, resilience, and leadership—qualities that extend well beyond the track.

Through his work at Long Beach State, Duke University, Williams College, and as a professional coach, Patrick Wales-Dinan continues to leave a lasting legacy rooted in integrity, mentorship, and championship-level excellence.
