Searching for the Best Indian Restaurant in Amsterdam – Any Real Recommendations?

Hey food lovers,

I’ve been living in Amsterdam for a while now and I’ve slowly been working my way through all the different food scenes the city has to offer. Dutch snacks, Indonesian rijsttafel, sushi spots, Mediterranean cafés – you name it. But lately, I’ve had a real craving for authentic Indian food, and it’s proving surprisingly tricky to find something truly satisfying.

I’ve tried a few restaurants that pop up when you Google “best Indian restaurant in Amsterdam”, but honestly, they’ve been a bit hit-or-miss. Some were overly westernized, others lacked consistency, and a few had great food but poor service or a rushed atmosphere. I’m looking for something a bit more balanced – delicious food, genuine flavors, warm ambiance, and ideally good service.

Recently, a friend casually mentioned a place called Cuisine of India, but they didn’t go into much detail – just said it was “really decent” and that they had a great butter chicken. I’m wondering if anyone here has been there? I’d love to know more before checking it out myself. What kind of experience did you have? Did it feel authentic? Any standout dishes you’d recommend trying or avoiding?

Also – is it good for groups? I’m thinking of organizing a small birthday dinner for 5–6 people, so it’s important that the place is comfortable and not too cramped. If it helps, I believe their contact number is (+31) 020-723 5178 – might give them a call to ask about availability and menu options.

Would really appreciate any personal reviews, photos, or suggestions for other Indian restaurants in the city that might be worth trying. I’m not looking for anything fancy or trendy – just good, honest Indian cuisine that leaves you full and happy.
