What’s the Best Helmet Style for Full Contact Combat?

What’s good, crew? Trying to pick the best helmet for full contact combat—any faves? Last summer, I used a borrowed great helm at a tourney, and it took a beating like a champ but fogged up bad. Made me miss half the action! What styles have you guys rocked that worked well?

Yo, fogged-up helm sounds like a pain! I off the shelf armor isn’t worth the hassle—trust me, I’ve been there. For full contact, I’d say a bascinet or armet hits the sweet spot. My bascinet’s saved my skull plenty, with decent airflow to avoid the steam bath you got. I switched after a similar foggy mess in my old great helm—way better vision now. If you’re hunting ideas, medieval extreme has some dope examples at https://medievalextreme.com/. Look for good padding and ventilation slots. Armets are solid too if you want a visor that flips. What’s the vibe of your tourneys—super intense or more chill?

Just poked my head in here, and man, this helmet talk is wild! I don’t do combat—mostly mess with model trains and hit up local hobby meets—but I’m digging how much you all think about this stuff. It’s like picking the right gauge for a track layout; gotta get it just right. Sounds like a blast picking gear that can take a hit and still let you see. Bet it’s a rush out there. Might swing by a combat event sometime to soak up the scene. Cool chat!
