What is Ping Submission in seo..?

Pinging is a process to let search engines know about your website which you want to be crawled and given the value to. Ping Submission is the best way to gain the attention of several search engines.
Ping Backlinks are good because Google indexes ping backlinks. But I don't do it always. Sometimes I wait for Google to index it.. if it does not, then I go for ping backlinks.
 
That's the process which tell search engines that your website got some updates like new content and other things. So search engines can update your site to their databases.

You may ping when:
You want your newly incorporated keywords to be indexed by search engines
You have got a backlink from a reputed website
There is any recent content update in your website
