What makes a website search engine-friendly?

For the most part, search engines score sites based on the words and images on web pages and on how well their content matches the keywords that are searched.
MAKE YOUR SITE SEARCH ENGINE FRIENDLY
* Do add a meta tag that identifies your site as mobile friendly
* Do make sure your code is valid
* Do invite other sites to link to you
* Do develop a list of keywords and write a good description for your site
* Do include your most important keywords in the title of your web page & also in the name of the file
* Do include keywords in the headlines on your web page
* Do register your mobile site with search engines
* Don’t stuff in extra keywords
* Don’t expect instant (or permanent) results

Search engines are limited in how they crawl the web and interpret content. A webpage doesn't always look the same to you and me as it looks to a search engine. In this section, we'll focus on specific technical aspects of building (or modifying) web pages so they are structured for both search engines and human visitors alike. Share this part of the guide with your programmers, information architects, and designers, so that all parties involved in a site's construction are on the same page.
