Hello everyone! I want to buy a telescope. The main thing is that I can look at the Moon, planets and, if possible, deep space objects. I've seen many models, but I'm afraid of making mistake. Should I buy an automated one or something simpler? What can anyone recommend? I want compact telescope because I often go out of town and would like to take it with me. My budget is average, but I don't want to overpay for features that a beginner doesn't need. I'd be grateful for your advice!

Take a look at the Sky-Watcher Heritage-114P Virtuoso. This is good choice for beginners. It has a parabolic mirror, which means the picture will be clear. You will definitely see the Moon and planets, plus there is the ability to observe deep space objects. The main convenience is automatic targeting and tracking of objects. The telescope itself corrects the movement, so object does not "float" out of the frame. This is useful, especially if you still can't quickly navigate by the stars. If you want more options later, you can buy a SynScan AZ GoTo or a Wi-Fi adapter for smartphone control. Here is a link where you can take a closer look: computerised telescope.

Automated models are, of course, more convenient, especially for beginners, but some people still prefer classic manual telescopes. It depends on how you plan to use them. If you just want to enjoy looking at the stars, auto-guidance is a good bonus. And if you are interested in the process of searching for objects and studying the sky manually, then you can consider other options. In any case, it is better to immediately think about which functions will really come in handy and which will not.
